macOS Starter Kit for Windows Programmers

Early October 2014, bought macbook pro and “MacTalk Life Meta Programming”, from then a C++ programmer who moved bricks under Windows for 5 years accidentally stepped into OSX world.

A Few Small Common Knowledge

  • Power button (button at top right of keyboard)
  • Finder (corresponds to Windows’ File Explorer, is File Explorer’s name)
  • Command (corresponds to Windows system’s Windows key)
  • Option (corresponds to Windows’ Alt key)
  • Trackpad gestures (click Apple at top left, System Preferences, Trackpad, animations here)
  • img file (Mac’s installer, similar to Windows’ portable software, similar to Windows’ iso file)
  • Full screen and maximize (no maximize, only full screen. Or full screen and maximize similar)
  • Command-Tab switch between different programs
  • Control—Tab switch within same program
