2017 passed in a blink, every year is a very important year, this year I worked a complete year at Alibaba (Ant Financial) for the first time (natural year January to December). Last year’s summary mentioned various freshness and discomfort have all become accustomed to and adapted.

Plans Completed

Last year’s plans here, being lenient with myself, completion can be considered barely passing. Unachieved goals:

1. Didn’t travel abroad with family. (Various reasons, not enough vacation, ultimately didn’t go)
2. Didn’t join a franchise. (Later thought was too naive, or didn’t dare to break through)
3. English speaking cannot communicate normally. (Still didn’t invest enough time)
4. Write a 200-page book. (Think own accumulation still insufficient)

Achieved or did:

1. Renting can be considered calmly searched. Very close to kindergarten.
2. Stocks through Alibaba and JD stocks exceeded 1000RMB. (Still at super beginner stage, stock rise purely due to macro environment)
3. Read a lot of finance books.
4. Attended two company finance activities.
5. Read some franchise books. (Consider as understanding)
6. English speaking improved significantly, Liulishuo and Youdao Speaking still practicing. (Just haven’t broken through final stage)
7. Developed MachOExplorer first beta version. (With very limited work time, developed intermittently, large amounts of code written between 0am and 2am)
8. Developed AppleTrace to solve work performance analysis problems, but work couldn’t squeeze time to develop.
9. One blog per month, basically met quota, but quality clearly worse than last year. (Still didn’t focus on blog)
10. AzeriaLab’s arm exploitation practice (returned to security, this is my interest)
11. Learning direction basically biased toward low-level, read some books and papers, basically summarized in these two places, iosre and papers. (This didn’t go off track)
12. Beijing and surrounding self-driving trips still many, suitable family places all played once.
13. pwnable.kr preliminary practice (as ending, put a picture)

Habits Formed

1. This year formed more effective note-taking habits, summarize my note-taking solution:

    1. OneNote notes, diary, blog drafts.
    2. Pocket miscellaneous web pages, various articles that feel good but no time or will never read.
    3. Evernote articles or materials that match interests, already, currently or definitely will read good articles, must add tags.
    4. MWeb write blogs, e-books.
    5. dynalist.io thinking organization.
   

2. Quit Honor of Kings (Have to say, this game is very popular, but to quit something, need to make probability of it happening smaller. By handling runes, multiple AFKs, achieved multiple bans, finally no interest in playing)
3. Wake up at 7:20, sleep before 1am. (7 hours sleep basically guaranteed, but sometimes feel 7 hours not enough)

Work Summary

A full year of Ant work, let me experience power of collaboration, Alipay Mini Program development involved hundreds of people, such a huge project from zero to release, requires effort from every link. Followed Alipay App’s performance for a full year, also let me have deeper understanding of future direction. Sweet and sour, hard to describe in one sentence (also not suitable for public publication), growth and gains are many.

Looking Forward to 2018

1. Complete pwnable.kr, don’t seek speed, seek thorough understanding.
2. iOS 6/7/8/9/10/11 jailbreak principles, write multiple blog summaries.
3. Gym running, 4 times per week.
4. Performance-oriented programming, integrate my understanding of performance and security into Tokamak (currently still private library).
5. Improve MachOExplorer, implement Windows support, and achieve complete replacement of MachOView.
6. AppleTrace with frida, enhance trace experience.
7. Complete 200-page book before July 1 (free open source or publish depending on completion quality)
8. Family travel abroad once.
9. Write blogs with more images, learn Sketch.
10. Blogs more about low-level principles, discoveries.
11. English speaking achieve normal communication.

My Pursuit

Think about what I’ve been pursuing all along? Pursuing is “doing more meaningful things”, when trivial things come, and soul cannot be compensated, perhaps will push evolution. Yet this seems to be a cycle. Life/work itself is like this, constantly pursuing, constantly seeking, constantly advancing.
