Clipboard Input Method (Paste Keyboard), used to solve WeChat Moments pasting large amounts of text automatically folded to one line problem. Using Clipboard Input Method, can make Moments text no longer folded.

Background

When see a good text online, want to directly copy paste share to WeChat Moments, you’ll find published Moments will be folded to one line. As below:

WeChat’s original intent is good, to encourage everyone’s original and authentic sharing.

WeChat has a simple algorithm to judge “when to fold”, roughly might be: judge if there’s text input process.

Using Clipboard Input Method to Avoid

After using Clipboard Input Method to input, can see not folded. As below:

Installation

Clipboard Input Method has landed on AppStore, click here to download and install

Configuration

(1) First, open Settings-General-Keyboard-Keyboards, click Add New Keyboard, select Clipboard Input Method.

(2) Then, open Settings-General-Keyboard-Keyboards-Clipboard Input Method, enable Allow Full Access.

Usage

(1) First copy a text from anywhere.

(2) Then, enter a place that can input text, for example WeChat Moments.

(3) Switch input method to Clipboard Input Method.

(4) Clipboard Input Method will automatically get text in system clipboard, and briefly display. At this time click Input can start input.

(5) After input completes publish. Text won’t be folded. :)

Summary

Usually browsing Moments often see some text folded, always feel a bit awkward. Until one day saw Weibo someone shared idea of simulating input (Weibo post a bit old, couldn’t find…), so recorded a TODO. With previous USB Keyboard development’s base code, this development was relatively fast, from Friday night started development, to Monday morning review passed. Apple also very helpful, one review passed.
